The engineering division of the UK's leading recruiters Acorn has sealed a contract to supply baggage-handling staff for one of Europe’s busiest air terminals.
Working under its specialist engineering brand Exxell, it has won a three-year contract at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport with leading engineering support services company Babcock, one of the biggest airport baggage-handling specialists in the UK.
The Schiphol deal, which starts on January 1, will see Exxell as the sole UK recruitment supplier looking to recruit maintenance technicians, maintenance supervisors and maintenance managers within the baggage-handling operation at the airport where 91 different airlines fly to and from.
Exxell’s Engineering Divisional Manager Steve, who recently spent two days at Schiphol preparing for the start of the contract in the new year, said: “We have a lot of experience in working with Babcock so we understand the systems involved and the type of people needed for this sort of work.
“The major issues in supplying staff for jobs like these are the skills required and the necessity for security clearance at one of the busiest airports in the world. The client is looking to put together a team of around 60 staff and we are hoping to make a significant contribution to this team.”
Acorn’s Managing Director, Matt Southall said: “This is another great new contract win for our Exxell team, who based from the centre of London and Woking are already demonstrating that our Group strategy of developing into new sectors and new geographies continues to pay dividends.
“We’re delighted to have this opportunity with Babcock, with whom we hope to enjoy a long-term relationship.”
Exxell is part of the Acorn Group, which has 35 branches across Wales, the West Country, the North West of England, London and the South East.
